Why SQLite sucks so much

Friday, March 17th, 2006 | Life

I’ve solved the problem! Why the insert is showing up on the list and yet not actually working. It’s because you need to cmmit the changes before it will save anything. That is so annoying, it took me forever to figure that one out. Well, I say forever, it’s taken me like 30 minutes but that’s a long time when this project needs to be finished in a week’s time.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Friday, March 17th, 2006 | Life

It’s only the start of St. Patrick’s Day and already I have some interesting memories (admittedly from last Tuesday / Wednesday).

Fran is coming! To go off on a slightly random tangent. While I’m not massively excited myself due to the fact I have never met Fran, Michelle is very excited in her “I’m still a big kid inside” way (it’s quite an impressive skill to retain through the depressing teenage years that break most of our spirits).

We’re going to get a load of Python done today hopefully. I’m not just going to go home and play my guitar. As long as I keep telling myself that I should be fine.

Doing catch-up work

Thursday, March 16th, 2006 | Life

Tonight is my night off which I’m glad I have in my timetable as I have lots of work to catch up on after taking the whole of yesterday off. I’ve now finished everything I should have done yesterday! Now all I have to do is do the work that I need to do today lol.

My Python project is quite a concern at the moment as we are quickly running out of time. It’s coming together slowly though, we have the basic form for an interface now and although there is still plenty of work to do I’m quite up for the challenge.

So much to blog about

Thursday, March 16th, 2006 | Life

Ok, so it’s been ages since I’ve blogged. Well, like 36 hours but that is a long time considering the usual frequency of my posts and also considering that a lot has happened in that time. Last time I posted was before the big St. Patrick’s Day party (don’t ask me why we held it on the Tuesday, nobody really knows).

So yeah, I went down and got slightly drunk. And by slightly drink I mean I got absolutely wasted. It was a good night although major sufferage yesterday. I’ve never been anywhere near that hungover and ended up throwing up three times the next morning so not the greatest day I’ve had. I just barely made it in for my 5 o’clock and that was mission.

I had to go in for that though, it was the film making society AGM. Of which as I’ve previously mentioned I was running for secretary. I won, running unopposed but still a victory none of the less! :p. Steph got president as expected, Tom beat Benjamin to treasurer, Rosey (who was filming with us last Saturday when Steph tried to kill us (thinking about it Tom was as well)) got social secretary and the two open seats were taken by Louise and Stefan.

Tom and Rosey seem to be relative newcomers although that said, I’ve only been with the society since September. Still, they rock so I’m confident we have a strong committee. Matt also made a rare appearance and ran for an open seat although considering this is the first meeting he’s been to in ages I can see why the results came out the way they did.

Finally I spent last night at the Battle of the Bands thing at the union. It was a pretty cool night although I was still feeling lousy from my hangover so I left at about 11:30 so that I could get back to Bod with some hope of making it in for my 9:00 am start this morning (which I made).

So tonight I have quite a bit of work to do as a literally did nothing yesterday. The only time I was on my computer was just to print off the notes I made for my film making society election speech dealie so I probably have a few hundred emails waiting for me to sort out. Should be fun.

St. Patrick’s Day festivities

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006 | Life

Well, so much for this Grant House rave up. It started at 9:30 and an hour later I am still sat here. I have my reasons though. Which I am going to explain in boring detail now.

After dinner I was really tired and ended up sleeping between like 8:00 and 9:00 or something. Good sleep, I felt even more tired when I first got up again but I feel pretty good now. But anyway, after that I had to update xmeltrut.com which took ages as I only did a bare minimum job yesterday due to time constraints.

Now I’m just working on updating Rawice and I think I’m done. Well except for pouring through all my e-mails but I can do that another time. I think I will probably go down and see what’s going on in a minute.

I feel like I’m missing something

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006 | Life

I was thinking while in lectures today I need to blog about a load of stuff but I can’t remember what it is now. I am sure there was something about Saturday but then I talked about filming and the Otley run back then and I don’t think anything of note happened on Sunday.

Yesterday was quite eventful. I spent some time hanging out at Clapham before dinner then spent the evening (evening being from like 8 till around 3) at Sarann’s where we had homemade pizza which was good. I managed to get up for some Grant House basketball at 10:15 too. Graham took a second day off uni lol.

Tomorrow has come up on me fast, with the whole film making society AGM dealie. I spoke to Oli today who said he has been elected as, I forget the exact title, but it’s for AISOC (or ASOC maybe, spelling?). He ran unopposed but still, congratulations are in order anyway :D.

I really don’t want to bother with updating my websites tonight, I’ve covered the Blog Steak sites but I still have loads to do and loads of stuff left over from tomorrow too. I might get some sleep, we have all-night festivities kicking off for St. Patrick’s Day at 9:30. Hmm, I might blog about that too.

Busy social calendar

Monday, March 13th, 2006 | Life

I’m quite pleased with the amount of events I have managed to slot into my social calendar for the next week. I need to keep my spirits up as we only have two weeks left before I have to go home again (if my immediate family ever read this I just want to let you know, I don’t find your company boring and depressing ;)). Seriously though, my problem is, living close to home I don’t get homesick but on the plus side I really love uni and don’t want to leave.

Anyway so yeah, it’s Monday. Tonight we’re having a home made pizza night at Sarann’s (presuming she gets back from Cumbria in time) and Graham is going down to Mine for the free jazz night so I might do that.

Tomorrow night is St. Patrick’s day so Grant House is having an all night rave-up as we’ve all put £7 in which should provide about £300’s worth of alcohol :D. Wednesday I have the film making society AGM and Oli has informed me there is a Battle of the Bands event on in Mine so I’ll probably go to that afterwards.

Thursday I appear to have free although I’m sure I can fix that. Friday I am going out for cocktails with Michelle and Fran and Saturday is Wendy House. So it’s going to be quite a busy week between that and doing like 4 pieces of coursework :D.

Spoilers!

Monday, March 13th, 2006 | Life

Dammit, I think I just saw a major DC spoiler! If so I will not be happy. But it might not have happened. I haven’t read anything else to support the claim. As long as I deny it then even if it does happen it will still be a suprise for me.

It’s too cold

Monday, March 13th, 2006 | Life

It’s way too cold. It’s because we’re too far north. It’s never this cold back home.

I’m going to restart my computer

Monday, March 13th, 2006 | Life

Wow, it’s been ages. My desktop has been on solidly for probably over a week or something now so I’m finally going to restart it because it’s finally started crashing on my ass. I would be getting some sleep right now but Firefox cancels you’re downloads if you exit making the whole being able to pause them thing fairly (although not completely) pointless.
