Trick or treat!
Trick or treat!
Trick or treat!
Life has been pretty mad recently. And by recently I mean the past 40 years or so. Even our wedding anniversary itself was filled with rushing around with work and meetings. But we did manage to carve out an hour or two for some takeaway food and watching an episode of Glow. And what more could one want than teriyaki duck and an episode of a wrestling show that contains no wrestling?
This year, we did a cinema party for Venla’s birthday. We watched Trolls followed by pizza. Trying to manage 14 children was not something I was particularly looking forward to but thankfully a few other parents stuck around to help out and nobody died so I think we can count that as a success.
Classic British garden party. We put the gazebo up to protect ourselves from the sun. Then it lashed it down. Then it was too hot again. It was a lovely day, great to catch up with people, and eat a lot of cake.
We had a lovely few days hosting Elina’s mum and her partner last week. Managed to squeeze in town, shopping, multiple pubs, the beach and a museum into three days.
It was an excellent choice to do a family trip to the Chocolate Garden the day before Father’s Day. Thanks Venla!
We celebrated Elina’s birthday last week with a visit to Kobe One. Good sushi. We also headed over to the park where they were having a market and came home with an encyclopedia of dinosaurs. Perfect if you’re struggling to name your favourite one.
Yesterday we went to Venla’s winter concert. Her class sang the sharing song with some dance moves thrown in. Well done, Venla!
I didn’t make a lot her events at daycare like sport days and father’s day breakfasts. I did make one and the food was not spectular. And her graduation, of course. But I felt I missed a lot of it because I was so busy working on the business so that, ironically, I would have time to do that kind of stuff. Now the business is successful and I do have time to do this stuff. And it feels great!
Elina and Venla were in Finland last week to see the family. As well as catching up they went to a bouncy castle thing, built a snowman and met Santa. Everyone is a lot more grown up than last time we were there!
We were hosting my parents this week. It was lovely to see them and have them here. We did a birthday meal at the Step Inn. I was too ill to enjoy it unfortunately but the food was delicious. We also managed to fit in a trip to Johnnie Fox’s and plenty of walks, too.
