Stripe Payments in PHP

Monday, May 4th, 2020 | News

I’m pleased to announce my new course, Stripe Payments in PHP. It’s a 90-minute course that covers Stripe Checkout, API, Elements and Stripe.js: all the options you may want to use for integrating Stripe Payments into your website.

There are a couple of Stripe courses out there already. But a lot of them haven’t been updated for years and that is a problem because the EU is currently bringing in new some payment regulations across Europe called “Secure Customer Authentication”. This is a two-factor payment authorisation system in which your bank will text you a code (which is why your bank or credit card provider may have been nagging you to update your mobile number).

This course is fully up-to-date with Stripe’s new SCA-compliant APIs, as well as covering digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Google Tag Manager course

Saturday, April 18th, 2020 | News

I’ve launched my latest course, Google Tag Manager for Developers. It is predominantly aimed at web developers who want to save time but is also suitable for digital marketers and entrepreneurs who manage their own websites.

Google Tag Manager is a platform that allows you to quickly and easily manage analytics scripts and pixels. Even as a developer, who could write it all myself, I use Google Tag Manager to save valuable time and effort. The course covers getting setup, using some of the advanced features, and integrating Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel.

Sport Psychology for Triathletes

Wednesday, November 27th, 2019 | News

One of the reasons I have been so busy is that earlier this month, I launched my new course Sport Psychology for Triathletes course.

This is unlike anything I have done before: it goes into more depth and it is taught “live”, so they are not live lessons, but we onboard everyone with a questionnaire and adapt the content around the cohort of students, and then the lessons as produced each week. It has been a lot of of work but I’m very pleased with the quality so far.

Our first-class of students will graduate in February and I am already looking forward to welcoming the second class in, as well as the many other exciting courses we will be announcing over at Resilient.

Feel-good Productivity

Sunday, September 1st, 2019 | News, Success & Productivity

It’s the course launch people have been asking for. When I put up a question on Facebook earlier this summer, productivity was the number one topic that people asked me to teach.

I was hesitant. There are already a load of productivity courses out there, and I knew it would be difficult to write because productivity is a core part of my identity. In such circumstances we often find we procrastinate a lot because if we are unable to articulate and teach those skills, it challenges our self-esteem. Luckily, I’m a psychologist and I know how to deal with that. In fact, I teach those skills in the course.

Despite the competition, I decided to the time was right to make the course. Why? Because I don’t like a lot of the stuff out there. So many courses are about tricks to cram even more stuff into your schedule. They work, but they can leave you even more tired and stressed, or reinforce unrealistic expectations.

Feel-good Productivity is based on compassion. We’ll start by challenging the idea that you need to be productive. We’ll focus on getting rid of stuff from your calendar so that you can focus on what is truly important. We’ll deep-drive through the psychology of procrastination, avoidance, focus, goal-setting and grit so that you have evidence-based strategies for getting more done with less stress. And we’ll learn why relaxation and being kind to ourselves will boost our productivity in the long-term.

If all of that sounds good, I would love for you to join me inside the course. It has only been live a few days and almost a thousand students already have.

You can watch the course trailer below, or head over to Udemy for a full course preview including access to the first few lessons.

Digital Marketing for Therapists

Wednesday, December 12th, 2018 | Business & Marketing, News

In June, I launched my course Digital Marketing for Restaurants to help restaurant owners and managers access new customers via digital media. Since then over a thousand people have enrolled on it and it has achieved a 5-star rating.

I’m now pleased to announce that I have launched a brand new digital marketing course, this time for therapists and counsellors.

It covers building websites, using Google Ads, using Google My Business, Facebook pages, posts and ads, and using Eventbrite. It’s available now on Udemy and you can preview it here.

Digital Marketing for Restaurants

Friday, June 29th, 2018 | Business & Marketing, News

I’ve just launched a new course.

Given that I am a software consultant by background, and now a psychologist, you might imagine that courses on computer programming and mindfulness are my thing. And they are. But, surprisingly, my highest selling course is Get More Restaurant Customers.

It runs under the Restaurant Psychology brand, which given my experience as both a line cook, a critic and the author of Why Restaurants Fail has proved to be popular. So, I’ve followed it up with this one, combining my food, psychology and digital marketing knowledge into a single step-by-step course.

So far it is proving popular, with over 1,000 students in the first weekend and a 5-star rating.

The Meaning of Life

Thursday, October 13th, 2011 | Humanism

Last Friday, another series of the One Life course kicked off with a session on the meaning of life which Will had asked me to chair.

I tried to expand the discussion a little further than previously, where it has often stuck to its philosophical roots, to go beyond that and get into questions like, what would be a wasted life and what tenants do you live your life by. All in all, it seemed to go very well.

The biggest problem, however, is that for the first time ever, they didn’t provide a hot meal. I’ll be filing an expense claim for my McDonald’s shortly…
