Securing your World

Thursday, August 16th, 2012 | Distractions, Video

A couple of weeks ago I was speaking to a friend who works for G4S, the company that totally messed-up the Olympics security.

He was telling us how we can somehow become some kind of comic villain – he only works on reception and yet he was telling us how kids have been booing him every time he goes out to get some lunch.

More importantly however, it turns out that G4S have a corporate song! Not just any song, but a rock power ballad with someone singing “G4S, protecting your world…” It’s brilliant! Check it out below.

This is a great PSA by Lauren Luke.

Ted

Thursday, April 12th, 2012 | Distractions, Video

I don’t normally go to the cinema – it involved sitting still for two, maybe even three hours. But this summer I’ll be making an exception. Why, in one sentence? A Seth MacFarlane film, featuring Mila Kunis!

If the video isn’t embedding properly, you can also see it here.

If for some reason you’re not already 100% convinced then a) there is something wrong with you and b) here is a different trailer, this one voiced by Patrick Stewart. Enough said.

Collateral murder

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011 | Religion & Politics, Video

I recently washed a Channel 4 documentary on Julian Assange and WikiLeaks. While I had heard all about the exposing of the Iraq War Logs and a lot of the surrounding fall out, I was somewhat shocked at some of the footage shown in the documentary. I wondered how many other people had seen it, so I thought I would post the YouTube on here.

In the Name of the Fodder

Great video from Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, discussing how quickly some individuals can be at associating actions a different religion, but rather slower when it comes to their own.

Online filter bubbles

Sunday, June 5th, 2011 | Tech, Video

Eli Pariser recently gave an interesting talk at TED about the way the internet is becoming more and more personalised – filtering so we see more of the stuff we want to see, and less of the stuff we don’t. He argues this can be a bad thing as it means we don’t see the other side of the argument.

One of the most interesting statistics given in the talk is that Google use 57 different factors to personalise your results, including many used even when you’re not logged in. That really must make your job a whole lot more complex if you work in SEO ;).

The Fonze t-shirt

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005 | Video

Here is a video that has been sitting around for a while. A few months back a made rather interesting order off CafePress which I like to call "The Fonze" t-shirt. Basically it’s a t-shirt with Fonz’s head on.

Anyway we filmed it (as you have to do when you spend that much money on a gag) and while I was routing round I came accross the footage on one of my old tapes. So where else would I dump it but here :P?

Sorry, this video is no longer available.
