Quality Facebook groups

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007 | Life

I thought I’d share some of my favourite Facebook groups…

  • I have less money than a tramp
  • I walk faster than you, GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY
  • I would rather join a group than get on with my coursework
  • If this group reaches 4,294,967,296 it might cause an integer overflow.
  • If Wikipedia Says It, It Must Be True
  • It’s Not My Fault What You Said Can Be Misconstrued as A Sexual Innuendo
  • Patrons of the Pliable Camel
  • Luke Wheeler never looks heterosexual in any photo Appreciation Society
  • Petition to revoke the independence of the United States of America
  • There’s No Way Paper Beats Rock
  • Why Yes, I Do Frequently Burst Out in Song

Happy birthday Phil

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007 | Life

Which one of the following is the biggest afront to God?

Tuesday started off with some stuff that I can’t really remember followed by the Atheist Soc meeting in which I was giving a presentation “debating with theists” which was concerning how to counter the common arguments thrown at you by theists.

It went really well, I was worried I would blow through the slides in almost no time at all but because we got some debate going it worked out perfectly within the time limit. We got a few new people show up too including Hind who is the equality and diversity officer for next year.

Afterwards we hit The Old Bar for a few drinks and headed down to the Red Leopard for Phil’s birthday. He ended up getting a stage show (Kat mugged everyone for £5 on their way in to fund it) where two girls took him on stage and had fun drawing on his face with lipstick and led him round like a dog before whipping him with his own belt. Memories.

RegisterFly support ticket

Monday, February 19th, 2007 | Life

I sent a nice angry support ticket to RegisterFly today.

Hi,

It’s been almost a week since I posted my last support ticket regarding antichav.com without a response. What happened to the 2-3 hour response times? Seriously, I would like an explanation.

And for the love of God, can I please have the EPP code for antichav.com. Please also restore the domain – for free. I’ve been waiting for this EPP code for over a month now, I ‘ve opened up support ticket after support ticket – you have fobbed me off constantly, this is your fault!

The service level I have been receiving recently is completely unacceptable. If the situation is not resolved promptly I will be forced to take further action and if necessary, lodge a formal complaint with ICANN.

Regards,
Chris

I’ve been migrating my domains away from them for a while now but I’m being hampered by the fact that I now need an EPP code to transfer my domains away which is an absolute mission to get hold of.

Luckily, eNom have got tired of the problems and terminated RegisterFly’s reseller account (RegisterFly used eNom to deal all of their domains until they became a registrar in their own right last year). So all the domains that I were registed through eNom on my RegisterFly account have now been pushed to an eNom account.

As an eNom reseller, RegisterFly was bound to adhere to certain standards of customer service such as providing customer service in a speedy and diligent manner. Because RegisterFly was unable to provide customer service meeting these standards,
eNom terminated RegisterFly as a reseller of its domain names on February 6, 2007.

Now all I have to do is move the domains which are actually registered through RegisterFly which should only be a dozen or so.

Debating

Monday, February 19th, 2007 | Life

I’ve been trying to organise some debates for Atheist Soc with the theists. Until today nobody had got back me though I finally got a text from Christian Union president Chris today. They’ve turned us down for a debate on creationism vs. evolution based on six day creationism not being a view held by all Christians (anymore). They did however say they were interested in holding debates on the gospel or Jesus Christ though so hopefully we can get something together soon.

Another close at The D

Monday, February 19th, 2007 | Life

Tonight was an interesting night. First of all, we were only scheduled 3 closers (there should be 4 on a weekend). Then Amanda phoned in sick so Rich agreed to stay on – having been on a day shift and started work at 9:30. Clocking out just before 2:30 that measures up to a shift of almost 17 hours. My marathon shift got out at 2:30 with me having started at 10 so he topped me by 24 minutes.

Not a bad close time though given we had no staff in the kitchen. Literally. With us being a closer down I was by myself in the kitchen and my last crew member on a night shift went home at 8:30. I usually lose the last one at about 11. Still, that’s it for another weekend of working, now I can get several hours sleep before I have to be up for uni.

My car, my beautiful car

There is a big dent in my car door! It would seem some retard has managed to slam their car door into the side of mine while in the car park at The D yesterday! This is so not cool.

February Wendy House

Sunday, February 18th, 2007 | Life

Hmm. So I got up Saturday morning and headed off to work for a fun day shift. Didn’t drag too much after the first few hours though so I survived. Headed off just after 8 via Tesco and hit The Old Bar at a decent time. My plans for for a quiet pre-drink where somewhat overthrown by the fact I had forgotten The Old Bar hosts New Slang on Saturday though.

Total Wendy turnout was myself, John, Sophie, Verity, Phil and Cara (the usual Wendy attendees really, not that I’m complaining, it’s a good crowd) plus Sophie’s sister Amy also eventually turned up with her friend Dave. The music took forever to get going it but it finally did just before 2 and quickly went from bland to awesome so it’s all good.

The night ended with the traditional appointment at Pizza Milano who had run out of chicken – that’s that about? Went home alone too. Still, all in all, not a bad night. Gave me a bit of chance to start sorting out my room too which I’m battling to get back to a nice and tidy state.

Every day I love you less and less

Saturday, February 17th, 2007 | Life

It’s been another long day. Did taekwondo 5-7 which was pretty good, we did some practice kicks, I almost new what I was doing for a lot of it so it’s all good. After that I headed off home for a family deal as it’s my uncles 50th birthday. Just got back from there as it happens.

Unfortunately this means I won’t get to bed until 2am at the earliest and I have a day shift, 12-8 tomorrow due to the fact I booked off the evening for Wendy House so I’m only going to get like 9 hours sleep in at most. I know that sounds like plenty but Saturday morning is my ONE day a week when I let myself have a nice sleep in. Every other day I’m working on less sleep than I would like, and i really, really love sleep so Saturday mornings are the one time of the week I look forward to more than anything else.

On the plus side it means that Wendy is tomorrow night. Though lots of people are bailing on it. Michelle, Sarann, Maths Chris, Izzy to name a few. I’m used to it now though, you lot are well rubbish. The hardcore members, namely myself, Sophie and Verity are all putting in appearances as usual. Sophie has promised not to get quite so drunk this time :D.

So yeah it’s going to be another mental weekend as normal. Working tomorrow, then rushing back to uni for Wendy then rushing back home next day to get the car back, then going to work, working all night and then getting up at some unpleasent time on Monday to get back to uni to begin my even more mental weekday schedule.

JD at The Old Bar

Friday, February 16th, 2007 | Life

Dan had the chance to come out for the night tonight which is a most rare occasion since a child fell out of his girlfriend. So we hit The Old Bar along with Si, Izzy and Michelle for a night of laid back drinking. It was a good night, we managed to keep the topic off computing for most of the night which is impressive for our circle and indeed it stayed off World of Warcraft as well.

Defrag

Friday, February 16th, 2007 | Life

I started Defragging my old laptop earlier and it’s a mission. It spent well over an hour on 1% before stopping for no apparent reason. It didn’t lock it just stopped as if it had completed. Yet when I ran the analysis again it told me I needed to defrag. So I’m now on the second iteration. It’s done 28% though it’s been there for ages.
