The new crowd

We hit Wendy House on Saturday night, while I was under the assumption that I was back up to full strength. With hindsight this was probably a mistake, but there you go. And by we, interestly I mean myself, Lil, Jonni and Tom which was a fresh, though none the less enjoyable, crowd to go with.

It was also interesting to see Tom get all judgemental about Kate Bush and yet rock out to Evanescence. Am I really getting that old that Evanescence somehow has some undeserved cult reputation with the youngsters? :S

All for the love of steak

Tuesday night was the usual A-Soc social though attendance was a bit slow to pick up – it starts at 7pm and people actually waited until then to turn up. So myself and Tom having got there at 6:20 because I expected people to already be there by then had a bit of a wait for company. It did however provide a rather nice gap for us to sink a few first.

Reassuringly, Paul put in an appearance having been missing for the previous few weeks so it was good to see him again. And, as ever, the steak was very nice.

Tom’s birthday

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 | Events, Friends, Life

On Monday we headed out to celebrate Tom’s birthday. I say we, it was mainly Rosie really with nobody else arriving until over two hours after it had started (at least some of us had already said we couldn’t make it until that time 😉 ). We began at Cuthbert Brodrick but soon enough Sophie got us kicked out for being under age so we ended up at Stick Or Twist before heading to Fab.

Talking Humanism

Sunday, March 8th, 2009 | Humanism

Tuesday saw A-Soc roll around again and with no exec members there on the night, it was up to Sophie to lead us for the night. But of course she didn’t so I had to do it 😛 . The night involved a short introduction to Humanism given by myself followed by a formal debate on whether Humanism was a religion.

Michael argued it was and made some good points but was ultimately beaten by Tom who bravely swapped sides at the last minute after none of the speakers who were going to be arguing Humanism isn’t a religion showed up.

For his noodliness

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 | Humanism

The first formal debate of the year having arrived last night, myself and Tom took it upon ourselves to put forward the case for the Flying Spaghetti Monster being the one true god.

The debate was of quite a high standard with both sides making some excellent points. The motion was ultimately defeated but at a fairly even split of 14 votes to 12 but this is of course just part of his devine plan. Ultimately, it was a really fun debate and one we should definitely run again in the future.
