Introducing Lucozale

Saturday, June 30th, 2018 | Distractions

Lucozale is the world’s first isotonic pale ale. When you feel you need the bitter taste of a good ale to remind you why you’re here, and to numb the pain in your muscles, Lucozale is the sport drink to reach for.

It’s my first time cooking with Hoegaarden. It is producing some interesting colours.

Munich

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010 | Travel

Leaving Luxembourg we began the drive over to Munich. We were planning to drive through the Black Forest but being under time constraints we didn’t actually get to see much of it. It actually reminded me of the National Forest just south of Sheffield – not a lot of trees but plenty of farmland.

We arrived in Munich to find that the hotel didn’t actually have twin rooms – only double rooms. This made for a rather intimate night (by intimate night I mean rough animal sex – but what happens in Munich, stays in Munich).

We headed into town to find the Hofbrauhaus, a legendary drinking establishment in the heart of Munich. They served giant beers and had a band plus the food was pretty good and the gift shop was open until late into the night allowing Kieran to buy a stein.

Interestingly, Germany really look down on jaywalking – and there is just something weird about watching drunk people patently wait for the light at a crossing that you just can’t imagine in the UK.

It’s just a shame we were a week too early for Oktoberfest.

Still, that is really just an excuse to come back at some point.

When the cats away…

Monday, September 7th, 2009 | Friends, Life

Lil was working the night shift on Saturday and with myself and Norm both accidentally having the weekend off, I headed over to Seacroft for a beer or two.

I stopped off at Nando’s on my way to get some food and claim my free half a chicken :D. Of course I had to spend £5.80 to get the stamp and Tom didn’t want anything so I ended up with a chicken pita meal with chips and coleslaw as well as half a chicken.

Needless to say, I dined rather well that night :D.

Graduation ’09

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 | Friends

With Kieran up in Leeds for the SoC 2009 graduation we headed out on Monday night for a beer or two. While there was a very disappointing turnout it was never the less a very enjoyable evening start with some food at Wetherspoon’s before heading down to O’Neils and ending up back at ‘spoon’s for more drinks.

It was great to see a lot of people who seemed to be struggling at some point to come through with flying colours. Congratulations to all who made it!

Those chilled out Fridays

Sunday, June 28th, 2009 | Life

I made it home on Friday at around 6pm thinking I would have a rather relaxed weekend.

I had been scheduled to work on Friday but I had explained to work the week before that I didn’t work Friday evenings as it clashed with my real job but to ring me if they wanted me to do a different shift, which they hadn’t.

So anyway 6:30 rolls around and I get a phone call from work asking if I was coming in.

Predictably, really. Luckily I had kept my Friday evening free so I could head in. It turned out to be a reasonable night although it was gone 4am when I got home. You have to allow for a quick beer after work though, especially when you have a shopping trolley to chill out in.
