World’s slowest takeaway?

Saturday, January 11th, 2014 | Life

Last night I got an email stating that the takeaway order I had placed in June had now been completed.

An order you recently placed on our website has had its status changed.

The status of order #153 is now Completed

I knew it felt like a massive wait at the time…

Emergency at Luckys

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011 | Photos, Thoughts

On returning from the beach, we headed down to takeaway road opposite the university to grab some dinner. However, upon arriving there, we found an emergency in progress.

Police had apparently been called out to Luckys takeaway. Indeed, the incident was such an emergency that the police hadn’t even had time to turn their lights on to indicate they were attending an emergency.

After about five minutes they eventually emerged carrying what must have been evidence. However, due to time pressures they had been unable to get any evidence bags and were forced to use Luckys takeaway bags.

We’re still not sure what exactly the emergency incident was, but clearly, it required them to be in a huge rush. After all, what other reason could there be for them parking on double yellow lines, in a bus lane?

Takeaway night

Friday, March 20th, 2009 | Friends, Life

Sunday saw us forego our usual restaurant trip in favour of staying in and getting takeaway. Myself and Craig went for Chinese which I feel was a very solid choice. If nothing else it provided me with some salted pork and chicken to eat the next day which is always a winning combination!

I can now also highly recommend the mini spring rolls from Canton Flavour, not that I have ever really had something from there I wasn’t impressed with. It turned out being not much cheaper than our usual night out though definitely worth it.

No Vices Week

Sunday, March 8th, 2009 | Life

Last week was No Vices Week which was a week (well, 5 days lol) in which we avoided takeaway and alcohol and donated the money we saved to Rationalist Week. There wasn’t a huge uptake but some of us actually managed most of it.

It almost killed me to be honest. Day after day I was like “aww, I can just get McDonald’s on the way home” and then remembering I couldn’t. I drove Norm to work on Tuesday morning thinking I could just go for breakfast to fill the gap before I started work and then realised I couldn’t so I headed for “non-takeaway” breakfast – which was closed! Needless to say, I was not amused.

The other worry of course was that with me and Lil not eating McDonald’s we would put on a lot of weight (we are of course living proof that McDonald’s keeps you thin). Luckily Lil came up with the answer in us just sugaring our bread and eating a loaf a day. Seems to have worked.

One Life

Friday was the long awaited session of One Life – no, not the Gijs’s, mine of course! The subject was “leading a better life” and was your typical group discussion though scaled up for the fact that we would have a lot more people there, having sub-groups which then fed back to everyone else.

It being AHS weekend we brought in loads of takeaway food which despite quite disappointing attendance we still managed to eat our way through it all. Which I think is testament to the hedonistic lifestyle led by most of our society members. And believe me, it’s good 😀 .
