Home sweet home

Thursday, February 16th, 2012 | Life

Having decided it had been far too long since we last had a house warming, there was really only one thing we could do to fix this – move. So this is our new place. Actually, it isn’t, but ours is almost identical to this one, but with nicer carpets and air conditioning.

If you’re wondering why the photos are rubbish quality, it’s because they were compressed into GIF accidentally and then re-compressed to JPEG. I could redo them, but I have more important things to do.

What a weekend

Finally got the keys to my new apartment on Friday!

What followed was a long, long weekend. Being that it is a bit of a nightmare parking in town I had to move house overnight so having already done a full days work by the time I left work at 4pm, I then headed off to start moving stuff. Which went on for 13 hours.

This included a short break to run to Ikea at which point I managed to somehow – I really can’t imagine how though – pick out the shelves I wanted to buy and then walk though the self service warehouse without buying them. Accidentially. Honestly, how does that happen? I think I was rather tired by this point.

I finished up at 5am and went to grab some sleep however I ended up getting woken up by Brian bringing another potential tenant to look round so I didn’t get much sleep. This was followed by a full shift at work followed by more stuff being moved which I agained finished up at shortly after 5am.

I once again headed home to get some sleep before getting up on Sunday, finishing up a bit of freelance work I had to do then heading over again with more stuff and in an attempt to get the place sorted a little. Finishing up at around 9pm last night when I simply ran out of energy.

Never. Ever. Again.

Moving

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009 | Life

Having been planning to move on Friday I got a call from my letting agent on Thursday informing me that I couldn’t move in as there was a leak somewhere in the building and they couldn’t find out where it was.

Ignoring the fact that they should know who owns the building and thereby get them to fix it or at least get their permission so they could fix it I don’t see it was the end of the world because it’s one of the bedrooms and everything else is unaffected.

But there you go.

So by Monday night our contract was about to run out and all my stuff was still in my current house giving me 5 hours to move all of my stuff (and pack some of it too as I hadn’t had time to disassemble my desktop before Warwick) as well as put the finishing touches to cleaning the house.

Thanks to the help of my parents and Fonze we actually got it done and I am now fully moved out of West Park Place and into another house on Roundhay until my new place is ready. Now I just need to make a start on the sea of boxes so I can actually reach my bed.

Moving house

I have a lot of stuff.

Despite making several trips in my car during the slight overlap period we have I did my main move along with a lot of the house stuff on Saturday morning and managed to pack out my car, Norm’s car, my parent’s Mondeo estate, the trailer on the back of the Mondeo estate and my parent’s X-Trail. Quite an impressive convoy we had going.

Still things are moving slowly. The lounge is still a mass of boxes as is my bedroom and it’s not getting shifted particularly quickly. While I spend most of my time at home sorting through things, when you work 7 days a week, you’re free time is not actually not much time.

Still, I have some days off coming in December, I can use those to unpack.
