Ice cream helper

I tried to order three scoops of ice cream at Kaspas. Instead, they brought me three separate ice creams. It was very lucky that my ice cream helper was on hand to get the job finished.

Baskin Robbins: a review

Friday, May 26th, 2017 | Food

Baskin Robbins have a store in the Merrion Centre. We went in to try their wares: it would have been rude not to, really. I love Joe Deluccio’s in Trinity, so that was our main basis for comparison.

I had the chocolate mud and the mint chocolate chip. It’s not quite as smooth as Deluccio’s, but is still tasted great. The cone was a mixed bag: it was big, so contained the ice cream very well. However, it was a bit difficult to get to the ice cream and it collapsed towards the end.

On our second visit, they had no chocolate ice cream. No regular chocolate, no Mississippi mud, not even a mint chocolate chip.

The staff were surly both times. In fairness, they weren’t overly unfriendly, but they definitely are not pleased to see you. Which seems strange given they have so few other customers. Service at Joe Deluccio’s is also unfriendly, though.

ice-cream

Finland do many awesome ice cream flavours. They do some interesting ones too. Here is Elina eating a Salmiakki ice cream, and in Laitila we found a tar flavoured one.

Nash’s Fish & Chip Restaurant

Monday, July 22nd, 2013 | Humanism

Earlier this month, Atheist Socety headed to Nash’s Fish & Chip Restaurant for a meal.

There didn’t seem to be many people in the restaurant and by the time we left, we had been the only people in there for a while. We found out why as we walked out at 9pm – they close at 8pm, and had been keeping the restaurant opened just for us!

I was torn between the various desserts they do, so I opted to get the strawberry ice cream as a starter and then the strawberry trifle for my dessert – a perfect metaphorical sandwich to wrap round my fish and chips.

Cattle Grid

Saturday, November 5th, 2011 | Life, Reviews

For my birthday, we headed out to Cattle Grid for some steak.

There was a total of fourteen of us, making us not only the biggest group in the restaurant, but also bigger than all the other groups put together lol. I was particularly honoured by the attendance of Katie Barr, Sarann and Moz, who attended despite their vegetarian and vegan lifestyles!

As with my first visit, I went for the ribs which were excellent, but overall I was a little disappointed – the food took a long time to arrive and it didn’t arrive all at once. Jonni also had to send his steak back. Never the less, I had an enjoyable meal and finished off with their strawberry ice cream, which is delicious though suggests I didn’t order enough meat.

Sunday Club

Friday, April 29th, 2011 | Friends, Life

Enjoying the long weekend, we headed over to Stick or Twist to enjoy Sunday Club – a traditional roast dinner in true Wetherspoon’s style (ie, with a beer). After leaving we went in search of an ice cream, only to find that none of the ice cream vans were to be found. What kind of lazy ice cream people can’t be bothered to work on Easter Sunday?
