Galileo Day 2018
“In questions of science, the authority of a thousand is not worth the humble reasoning of a single individual.” Galileo Galilei.

As you can see, I spared no expense in making the picture for my blog post. I think it was worth the time, though. It is not every day that you turn 453. Of course, he hasn’t, because he is dead. But the thought still counts.
I would also like to offer a birthday shout-out to Michael, who I believe turns 23 today. He has a bit of catching up to do there.
The problem when you don’t just plonk your holidays on top of existing Pagan festivals, is that they are not as nicely spaced out. Three days after the special West Yorkshire Humanists Darwin Day event then, we’re doing our Galileo Day events – organised meals between society members.
I don’t have any photos from ours yet, because it hasn’t happened yet, but here are some from previous years.
I’ll report back on how it went. Probably painfully given I have American football training this morning…
Happy Galileo Day! Leeds is lucky enough to be hosting two Feasts in honour of the man – one at Fazenda at lunchtime and one at Browns this evening. Tomorrow, also sees Leeds Skeptics host the 2013 Galileo Day Lecture, Brian Quinn with a talk entitled “Superstition – The Odd Delusion”.
