Wendy House

Sunday, May 29th, 2011 | Life

We decided to celebrate the rapture not happening in the traditional way – by having a Wendylicious party before heading out for everyone’s favorite night. Good times.

February Wendy House

Saturday, February 26th, 2011 | Friends, Life

Last Saturday we hit up Wendy House for a good old fashioned night out. The theme was in disguise to which some people really put the effort in – notably Viv who managed to survive a night in that outfit without slowly cooking herself, which is no mean feat.

I hadn’t blogged about it until now as I was waiting on someone to post some photos. The ones below were posted by Kat, and I have to say how impressed I am that someone managed to get into so many photos taken with her own camera lol.

First Wendy of 2011

Sunday, January 16th, 2011 | Events, Life

Last night was the first Wendy House of 2011. The turn out was reasonable, we had about ten of us and it being reasonably quiet, we soon settled into a corner of the dance floor and danced the night away through to the end. For a chance, neither myself nor James had dressed up – Jonni was devastated 😉 .

Stylus: The Final Frontier

On Saturday we were faced with a very difficult choice. Sit in and continue to enjoy the epic ride that was Film4’s Star Trek marathon – the first ten Star Trek films (I refuse to say the original ten because how was Star Trek 11 not an “original” film – it didn’t make any sense but I don’t see how that makes it unoriginal) or drag ourselves out for an evening of drinking and revelry at Wendy House.

Despite it meaning a clash with Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home and Star Trek 5: The Undiscovered Country we decided to brave it, especially when people just started turning up at our apartment in preparation. In the end we managed a rather impressive turn out of 23 people in our group, presumably as some kind of show of solidarity that if one of us would miss that future saving whale, we all should.

Vive Le Cercle

Last night was the best Wendy I have had in a long time. And it’s always good so that is quite impressive. The broad range of characters turning up really helped the situation I think, it felt so old school with so many people back there. Indeed in total we managed 18 people making us easily the biggest circle on the dance floor. Who says we’re too old to party 😉 .

Just like old times

Sunday, January 24th, 2010 | Life

The inevitable march of aging means we rarely venture out of our houses to hit the down these days. I’m often at the pub as little as three or four times a week these days and clubbing is a whole different sorry state all together.

However given I’m playing plenty to live in a very nice city centre apartment which allows me to go out, get drunk and walk home all with relative ease the very least it seemed appropriate to do was to re-start a regular schedule of Wendylicious, particuarly as I always try to be around that Saturday for Skeptics in the Pub.

I have to say I’m glad I did because it was a pretty epic night. I think I’ve discovered the best formula for Wendy, drink at home, go to The Old Bar, drink some more there, then wander into Wendy around 11:30-midnight as it’s brilliant for the first few hours but then gets a little repetitive.

As such awesome times ensued including several short appearances from Amerijohn (even if he wasn’t actually hanging out with us for the most part, traitor) and some kind of end of night drunken cooking which is always a victory when it doesn’t burn the place down. Good times.

Wendy

Sunday, September 21st, 2008 | Friends, Life

With September Wendy House having arrived and many people back in Leeds, last night offered quite a spectacular turn-out for people connected with the circle. Fairly ironic really given that Wendy House as a whole was not overly busy.

We started off in The Old Bar with guest appearances from Bo and Ben plus Nicola joined us along with Kate (who really does have an amazing hourglass body when put into a corset) and Colette, Nicola’s friend from 6th form, all of who were sporting amazing outfits.

Wendy was the traditional mix of 80s and alternative with the few token modifications to the playlist. There were some notable omissions from the modern classics section (no Paramore, no Fall Out Boy, no Green Day, the list goes on) though we did at least get a bit of Evanescene at the end.

Afterwards we headed back to Nicola’s for the afterparty. Only 5 of us ended up going back – Nicola, Colette, Sarann, Moz and myself but never the less we talked long into the night and ended up staying until gone half seven by which point the day light had well and truly arrived. I finally got to bed at just after 8. Guess I’m not quite past it just yet after all then 😉 .

My last ever Fruity as a student

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008 | Events, Life

Can it really be? Has it really been three years since I arrived at university as a young fresh-faced student who had a good idea of what awaited him due to the amount of TV he had watched?

Apparently so. Last Friday was the last day of term of my third and final year at university and despite the cheeseyness where else could it really end except for Fruity? Especially given it was the last Fruity of the year and cheap entry.

We started the night at Danny’s house party which involved lots of burning things which was fun. Then just before 1am we headed off to hit Fruity. It was an excellent night as it was fairly empty with many students having gone home; you could comfortably dance and get straight to the bar yet there was enough people in there to give it some atmosphere – the perfect level.

We ended up getting home about 4am and retired for a well earned night’s sleep. Except Liz who was up being “just friends” with George till 8am :P.
