Wendy House playlist

Monday, November 18th, 2013 | Distractions

Leeds based club night The Wendy House basically never change their playlist. It’s comforting. As Hugh points out, you don’t need a watch because you can tell what time it is by which rendition of Sweet Dreams they are currently playing.

The advantage of this is that I’ve been able to make a note of all the songs they played (although we didn’t arrive until 12:30) and published them on a Spotify playlist. It’s shared, you can find it here. Drop me a message with any songs I’ve missed and I’ll add them.

Sheffield Alternative & Burlesque Fair

Friday, September 27th, 2013 | Thoughts

Last weekend, we went down to Corporation in Sheffield to attend the Alternative & Burlesque Fair.

Was it worth it? No. To be honest, I found it so disappointing that I’m not sure I would have even gone to it even if it had been in Leeds, if I had known what it was like.

I don’t think the stalls were are numerous as I was lead to believe and there was nothing particularly interesting there. There were also some stage shows, but the one we saw was just a burlesque dance. That’s probably expected given the name, but the reality of it is that it is just stripping out of slightly fancier clothing.

At £5 to get in, it is not worth a visit in my opinion.

Editors – The Weight of Your Love

Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013 | Reviews

Last week Editors released their new album The Weight of Your Love. It follows a similar sound to their previous works and while none of the songs instantly buried themselves into my memory, it does have the appeal of an album I would want to listen to again and again. It’s too early to say whether I actually will or not, bur definitely well worth a listen.

January 2012 Wendy House

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012 | Friends, Life

We were discussing earlier in the day how the idea of the alternative scene is that everyone is alternative – yet everyone dresses the same. I’m not sure I quite surprise to this – Alternative is more like a movement, like Postmodernism. But in any case, I decided it was time to embrace such ideas, and so I shunned the regular black outfits in favour of my bright red American Football jersey.

It was also great to see Mike from Bristol put in a guest appearance, as well as Norm and Maths Chris get their disco on, and we even finished the night with a very retro trip to Pizza Milano’s. Good times.
