Project update time

I’m guessing the “Grant House informal gathering” will have got started by now so I’m about to head down there but I just thought I would post a quick update on my indepedent film makers community I am currently working on which will be named Movie Liquid.

I’m quite fired up about it, I think it could be really big. I seem to have a lack of sites with substance at the moment, I have my old sites like Emo Movies and TV Forge but my new sites seem to lack the feel of a massive site for some reason, I hope that this new project will rectify this.

It’s a massive undertaking. I’ve been working for ages and I’m still working on the blog system which is pretty much the first thing I started on. It’s getting done gradually though and if I can keep up the pressure on the project it should actually get finished.

The actual movie system is going to be the key to it, how it’s all handled and what a user can do, the more functionality the better. There is plenty more to do though, there will be some tricky parts like the integration between the user profiles and the vBulletin system I am using for the forums and user authentication (well sort of, I kind of wrote my own bit for that).

I’m trying to strip as much of the vBulletin system out of it as possible. I’ll be stripping out the registration system and putting my own one in, the memberlist will be stripped out and replaced as will the PM system. Basically I want it to be used for the actual forums and that’s it. Maybe usergroups for the groups but generally, everything is going to be stripped out and replaced by my own code that isn’t the actual forum. And that is going to be completely skinned and maybe have some custom plug-ins put in too.
