The video is put out by an organisation called Prager University. This piqued my interest because they also have a video called “feminism vs. truth”. I went to their website to have a look around (it’s a .com, rather than an .edu) on which they stated:
Prager University is an online resource promoting knowledge and clarity.
We are not an accredited academic institution. And we don’t want to be.
So not a real university then. Of course I enjoy an angry rant against modern art as much as the next man, but this is just that.
As I mentioned recently we have been working on forming a live band for Sunday Assembly. We rolled it out at the March event.
Here are the videos:
Bill Withers – Lean On Me
Ben E. King – Stand By Me
The Beatles – With a Little Help From My Friends
There is a lot we can improve going forward. Having enough space so allow me to turn and face the audience for one thing! Looking a bit less sour-faced would be an improvement too, though in my defence, my current ulcer makes it very painful to smile. Alsol, a set of stage outfits in the style of Lordi or Kiss would definitely add a touch of class. As an opening gammit though, I think it went really well.
I sat in Leeds city centre to watch it and it was so cloudy that you could look at it with the naked eye (I did try with the glasses but you could not see anything through them). If you didn’t know that the eclipse was taking place, you could have easily not noticed it was happening.
I could have taken my friends up on their kind invitation to visit them in the Faroe Islands, but there too it was cloudy. The only place you could see it without cloud cover was Svalbard, which as you will no doubt know, is a fictional place made up by Philip Pullman for his His Dark Materials trilogy.
Still, at least the wonders of modern technology allowed me to watch it live on my tablet.
I have actually witnessed a total solar eclipse before as we were in Northern France for the 1999 one, which was pretty magical. Standing on the beach as the entire sky went dark. Not quite the same set by a train track in Leeds city centre watching the sky go almost imperceptibly dimmer…
It was only last Wednesday when I sat in a Toastmasters meeting and listened to a speech about Spock. Little did we know that less than 48 hours later his illness would take a turn for the worse.
It only seems fitting to remember him the way I am sure he would want to be remembered…
The Norden is a documentary series where they take someone from the United States to visit Finland, Norway and Sweden and compare the way they do things. With predictable results.
Prisons
Police
Guns are a terrible idea; go Norway.
Religion
I think the paster here does really well. He is down with the Heavy Metal Mass, and it feels like with the room 666 they are just teasing him. Plus the Bible does hate gays. I do not agree with that, but it is in there.
