So torn on DVDs

September 17th, 2005 | Life

Ok, so obviously I needed to test my new shipping address and when I found Resident Evil: Apocalypse for £7 I really didn’t have any option. My plan was, that would keep me going till I could get my hands on The O.C. series 2.

Which I really want – I saw an episode from it yesterday where stuff happens. Ryan meets Lindsay. It’s a hazy memory now but it was awesome. I think I am going to hold off though as I need to divert funds elsewhere, namely into a freeview decoder as I have realised I can pick up E4 on that and therefore won’t miss as many of my cable shows. Need to find out if I can pick it up yet though.

I’ve also stocked up on blank DVDs as I was down to my last couple and I want to do plenty of backups from now on. My new student bank account details still haven’t come through so it looks like I will have to come home again to pick them up. I need some kind of teleportation device between home and new home.

I’m even torn as to which car we should take today when we go look around. If we take the Mondeo then I can drive. But the X-Trail is more expensive and newer and although I’m going to be starring accommodation with these people I still think a certain distance needs to be maintained between myself and the common folk.

Nintendo DS

Just saw an advert for it (a bumper actually) and this is a quote: “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge to the Sith.” To the Sith? What is that about?

Creeping up on you

September 16th, 2005 | Life

This is wierd. I’m a total neurotic. Why can’t I really care about what is happening? It’s like, we go down tommorow and I live there from Sunday. So why am I totally just “meh” about moving out? This makes no sense! BTW pictures on their way tommorow.

I haven’t really noticed it coming though, it’s like tommorow which is wierd as in only a few days I will be partying it up on freshers week and yet it still seems ages away.

1094

September 15th, 2005 | Life

Ok, I really am making a lot of posts in a row but I blog when I have inspiration lol. Anyway so the episode where Bart falls in love with Laura in The Simpsons. Bart gives his address as 1094 Evergreen Terrace. But we all know the family live at 742 Evergreen Terrace.

I also noticed when Moe was running back he banged his leg on a wishing well. The same one that Timmy O’Tool fell down? :P.

I hate music ads

September 15th, 2005 | Life

I hate music ads that say “this album of the year.” Because, let’s face it, it probably isn’t is it? I also wanted to come and point out that I was not talking about Kelly Clarkson’s new album even though according to the advert “everybody is talking about” it.

I now hate it though because, in order to point that out, I have had to start talking about it.

Now the Huddersfield University advert I have just seen – there is an advert. Any uni that has Patrick Stewart has got to be good. Picard rules!

Dylan Moran

September 15th, 2005 | Life

I was just trying to find my Dylan Moran quotes, medium length story short, I couldn’t find it. Reason was, the quotes were actually in the Blair Space Quotes DB (this was after checking Buffy Talk also).

So anyway, I’m going to post them here so next time I go looking for them they will actually be here:

Dylan: “We all know if female genitalia could talk, it would sound exactly like Enya.”

Dylan: “I’m not a fighter, I’m a bleeder. The best I could hope for would be to drown someone in my own blood.”

Prolog to the neverworld

September 15th, 2005 | Life

So things are falling into blocky shaped holes. I was probably in denial I wanted anything other than the second series of The O.C. but checking on it, it doesn’t come out until September 26th. So even it if arrives on that date it is still a week later than I thought.

There is actually an alternative – the non-promotional price as £45 (like £11 more) is available now but that’s like 30% more. I spent an extra £20 to get the Buffy boxset a few weeks earlier and I’m not doing that again! Ok, maybe I will, my will power sucks and I need some way to get through the first week ;).

That said I still have my new networking geat that I ordered arrive tommorow. It better arrive tommorow or eBuyer will get the frowning of a lifetime!

psoTFX leaves phpBB

September 14th, 2005 | Life

Well if phpBB 3 was taking a long time before I think it’s going to take significantly longer now. Paul, aka, psoTFX who was co-manager of phpBB has left the project and I don’t blame him the amount of abuse that has been thrown at the project at recent times.

Still, it’s a shame he had to leave as phpBB 3 could draw in some real attention once it’s released. vBulletin really does rock but the next version of phpBB won’t be far behind.

Ordering stuff

September 12th, 2005 | Life

Just watching the new series of Jack Dee Live at the Apollo. Lee Mac was the guest presenter tonight but the thing is, Jack Dee is so good that the guest presenters are never as good by comparison.

Anyway, I finally got round to ordering some new network stuff to uni. Well ok, it started out that I needed to buy a new surgemaster multi-socket dealie (which I went for the 2 metre one instead of the 1 metre one, crazy I know 😉 but ended up getting two network cables (I needed a decent one to give my laptop some room and another for connecting my new computer up, extending my router range etc).

I also got some network couplings (things to connect two network cables together, pretty useful and at £0.56 or something you can’t go wrong, I ordered 3) even with all that stuff, the shipping still made up like 30% of my total order cost. I should really start shopping else where but what you going to do.

1and1 are a joke of a company

September 12th, 2005 | Life

So I’ve been trying to cancel my domain name with 1&1 (I reged it last year with the free .info domains) and they want me to fax them some kind of contract through. Which would be great if I had a fax machine. But I don’t as some of us are living in the 21st century. PayPal asked me to fax them a while ago too. Move on people, we don’t have fax machines anymore!

They are so slack though. I emailed them days ago and it takes them until now to get back to me. Can you imagine if you got a notice from GoDaddy saying, “oh we’re closed for the weekend.” Further more they tell me I need to do something totally different to what the website FAQs said. Why 1and1 has been such a successful company I will never know.

Actually I will, £50 a month for 10GB of bandwidth or thereabouts as their servers used it be. I pay around £25 for my VPS and I get 150GB of bandwidth and that isn’t particuarly cheap. No wonder they are rolling in it if they charge that much and have so few support staff to pay.
