Well actually, much less. It’s like 21 hours until I get my exam results. Problem is though, whatever happens, there is no way it can turn out good. Of course there is a difference between how bad it can turn out.
I’m really hoping I get the grades to get into Leeds Uni. We shall see tommorow.
I’m playing around with the Shoutcast server at the moment. I actually managed to get it set up ok although I can’t get my broadcast client to connect now. Anyway, I actually had more problems shutting the thing down then I did setting it up.
In the end I managed to do it using the kill process. If you go into your SSH you can type kill 56364. Kill has to be all in lower case! Also the number, obviously isn’t the one you want. What you need to do is look up the PID in Web Host Manager – go down to system health on the menu and select show current running processes.
That will list them all so just do a find using your web browser for the directory you installed it to or the filename and on the left will be listed the PID which you can use to kill the process.
Thanks for dragging up old memories Ricky. He got my thinking about my old magazine which hasn’t been published in well over a year now I think, but I miss it.
Well, the whole converting my blog isn’t really working out. I might just copy the first post over so that I have the archives going back to that date :P. Hmm, anyway, so I might as well starting blogging my new stuff.
At the moment I am waiting for Buffy Talk to reach 500 members so I can make a good “hurray” post. The reason is, we are over the hill. As I read on the web hosting forum that spawned from Webmaster-Talk, “the first 250-500 are the hardest after that it grows exponentially.”
So once I am over 500 I am hoping it will continue to grow even faster. There is a big difference between the number of posts on Buffy Talk and the number of posts on the two major Buffy forums (at least according to Authority Forums), BT has 37,000 whereas the biggest have 522,000 and 282,000.
I’m still not sure I’m doing this but it appears that I am converting my blog from pLog to WordPress. Hmm.
So today has been a long and reasonably interesting day. We drove up to a place never Sunderland this morning stroke afternoon to pick up the new car then I had to drive the old one back. It was cool though. I passed people, they should be ashamed of their speed ;).
So anyway once we got it home and sitting in the drive I decided to take a few photos with the old digital camera (it’s only figuratly old as I don’t have a new one as such, it’s just a phrase but anyway on with the story).
Nissan X-Trail, took us a while to get (13 weeks to be exact) as it’s an import. They are all thumbnailed, I think they go bigger.
Sorry, these images are no longer available.
Also for old time sake I took a picture of the old car (well old old now as currently we have three but we are getting rid of this one).
Sorry, this image is no longer available.
Unpack the RAM (random access memory) and check with the motherboard’s manual to work out which is the first slot (slot 0). When you insert the memory you want to fill it up numerically: 0, 1, 2, and so on.
To insert the memory push the white clips at the end outwards then simply slot in the memory sticks into the slots. The clips will automatically lock back into place when you have pushed the memory stick far enough into the slot.
Fantabulous news! Well ok, moderately cool news. Objects have arrived on Blair Space. And yes before you ask, I will be explaining what I am talking about. You see until now Blair Space has been pretty much like Rawice, a content portal with channels, no pages for specific movies or games.
Well now that has changed. Thanks to objects. Basically when Celeb Storm came along we needed a celebs table. However as it was working off Rawice which had six channels and each one needed different data we had a problem. The solution was to create an objects system where each channel had its own data table.
This could then be accessed by various sites. For instance Celeb Storm used the celebs table and then took its main features (such as celeb news for Lindsay Lohan on the Lindsay Lohan page) using the information from that object. A similar system is used with a new music site based around Audio Senate.
Now these are accessible on the six Blair Space channels (well there are a lot more but the ones it shares with Rawice which are the main articles, features, news, reviews, et channels). If you go to movies, music, TV, tech, games or celebs, you can now find a link on the left menu saying browse movies or browse TV or whatever.
At the moment this just displays a simple list of all the objects though this will be improved over time. You can then visit the page for that object which will search the news and articles database for relevant content, search the pictures and wallpaper database for images that have been attached to the object (objects have actually been used for a while for the galleries and wallpaper channel to sort the various images into the various topics) as well as picking out individual content from that channel’s database table using the data definitions defined in the database.
Pretty cool huh? Hopefully this should bring in more traffic to the site as you can now find relevant information easily. If you want Kylie news or to find out what is going on with Cheaper by the Dozen 2, you just go the relevant object page (I liked those examples to the right pages) to find all the news on the subject.
Here is a video that has been sitting around for a while. A few months back a made rather interesting order off CafePress which I like to call "The Fonze" t-shirt. Basically it’s a t-shirt with Fonz’s head on.
Anyway we filmed it (as you have to do when you spend that much money on a gag) and while I was routing round I came accross the footage on one of my old tapes. So where else would I dump it but here :P?
Sorry, this video is no longer available.
I ran the what D&D character are you test over at, here lol. Anyway so my results were as follows: Lawful Evil Human Mage Fighter, Follower Of Velsharoon.
Alignment:
Lawful Evil characters believe that a nice, orderly system of life is perfect for them to abuse for their own advancement. They will work within ‘the system’ to get the best that they can for themselves.
Race:
Humans are the ‘average’ race. They have the shortest life spans, and because of this, they tend to avoid the racial prejudices that other races are known for. They are also very curious and tend to live ‘for the moment’.
Primary Class:
Mages harness the magical energies for their own use. Spells, spell books, and long hours in the library are their loves. While often not physically strong, their mental talents can make up for this.
Secondary Class:
Fighters are the warriors. They use weapons to accomplish their goals. This isn’t to say that they aren’t intelligent, but that they do, in fact, believe that violence is frequently the answer.
Deity:
Velsharoon is the Neutral Evil god of necromancy, liches, and undeath. He is also known as the Vaunted, the Archmage of Necromancy, and the Lord of the Forgotten Crypt. His followers practice the necromantic arts, and raise the dead to do their bidding. His symbol is a crowned skull.
