WordPress pages

December 13th, 2005 | Life

I’ve started playing around with WordPress pages on a new site I’ve just launched, Celeb Linkage. Originally I intended it just to be a directory but then I decided I wanted some content about each celeb on each page too and it might be cool to post some blog posts on the site every now and then.

So I decided to go with WordPress and check out its static page capabilities. It’s pretty much just like a normal page but it automatically creates some pretty cool static URLs as it does with blog posts so for what I want to it’s working out pretty well.

I miss Bod

Home is way to stressful! I’m trying to sort out my filmography library which I’ve been compiling but I don’t have all the files so I have huge amounts of video files that can’t be burned to disk because a video file or image file is missing from one of the timelines so I can’t encode one of the video files that needs to be on the DVD.

For instance I’m chasing after an episode of the Gangster Match so I can’t burn that DVD, the same with The Hootrix DVDs and I can’t find the source files for That’s Our Hardy or Hardy’s Run.

Firefox 1.5

December 12th, 2005 | Life

I’ve just installed Firefox 1.5 on my desktop. It seems a lot like 1.0.7 except everything seems wierd. but other than that it seems ok so I guess I will get to like it once I start dragging and dropping tabs.

177,000 uniques

December 12th, 2005 | Life

I’ve just gone through all the sites in the Worfolk Online database bringing the statistics up to date. The approximate uniques for all of the Worfolk Online sites put together were sitting around 96,000 and I was hoping a complete update would push us over that.

So then, I’m pretty happy when the stats came up 177,000 monthly uniques. I’m liking what I am seeing here.

TrackBacks at xmeltrut.com

December 11th, 2005 | Life

As the news stories on xmeltrut.com often comment on stories posted on blogs, particuarly the major celebrity news blogs, I thought it would be a good idea if when the news stories were posted they were able to send a TrackBack ping to the blog posts as most of the blogs support TrackBack.

So at the moment I am working on putting in a TrackBack system into xmeltrut.com which will hopefully ping this post to let me know it’s working once it is complete.

Over the past 24 hours I’ve received payments for website advertising totaling $449.86. Not bad at all.

Look, I just want to watch a movie

December 11th, 2005 | Life

I decided to watch a movie tonight. My sister is borrowing my DVD player so as I was going to have to use a computer I decided to watch This Is Spinal Tap on my desktop. Nice and easy. So I insert the disk ready to play it.

Next thing I know I need to restart, am getting blue screen errors and my desktop is generally screwed. It’s locking up, doing things slowly, not shutting down, it’s worse than my laptop. When I finally do get the video I realise I don’t have the DivX codec so it’s a couple of restarts and 11mb download then an installer to get that on the system.

Also my computer keeps wurring like never before (not louder, it simply never did it before!) and there is a wierd clicking sound that keeps coming from the speakers too. I’m pissed off. I can’t do with the stress of being at home, this isn’t what I need right now.

Back home

December 10th, 2005 | Life

Well I’m back home after my first term at uni. Not pleased to be back though, I was loving Bodington. Still I can get some quality downloading in over the holidays once I sort my connection out.

I still have loads of unpacking to do but I got my computers set-up and then just kind of stopped and started surfing. I have my priorities right.

Final Friday

December 9th, 2005 | Life

It’s Friday. I moved a bunch of my stuff home today, well I say moved, I mean packed it into the car and sent my dad back with it. Still have all my computer equipment here ready to move back tomorrow so I’ll have to get up at like 8:30 to do that. Still considering the nights I have had and still managed to get up at 8:30 for breakfast that should be easy.

Off to the cinema tonight, there are a dozen or so of us left or at least there will be by the end of the night as a few people are getting picked up then.

Christmas party week

December 9th, 2005 | Life

I wasn’t going to blog tonight but my computers are both on so I thought, what the hell. This week has been mental. Not freshers week mental but it would take a lot to top that as you get hardened to the partying as the semester goes on.

Monday was a bust, I wanted to go to Bondi which was open until 6:00 am and pull an all-nighter but I couldn’t get anyone interested other than Colette who had football so we never made it out. Never the less I was chatting to Sarann for most of the night so I didn’t get to bed until 3:30 counting an episode of The X-Files.

Tuesday as I have previously mentioned was the Bodington Ball which ended up at Creation. That finished at 2:00 and we got the bus home then got food and stayed up talking so I was up that night until 4:40. Had to be up the next morning at 8:30 too (well it could have been 9 technically) as I had a 10 o’clock lecture.

Wednesday night I went to Bar Phono with Sarann, Graham and Liz (Sarann’s housemate) which was wicked. It was the RockSoc Christmas party. Then afterwards me and Graham came back to my room and that was followed by some World of Warcraft so that was another 3:30 night.

Then tonight we went to Halo for John’s birthday (which is actually Saturday but we obviously couldn’t do that) and it was also combined with the last night we would all be together in Grant before Christmas (actually Winks and Will have already gone home, Mike stayed in to do an essay and a few people went out with societies but for the most part we had everyone) as a lot of people will be going home tomorrow.

As one final event we will be watching Top Gun tomorrow too :P.
