Chris Worfolk's Blog

Back at Bod

January 8th, 2006 | Life

I feel like I have been neglecting my blog a bit recently. I’ve been pretty wrapped up in getting back into World of Warcraft and the various other things I’ve been doing that I haven’t posted in days.

Somehow my Chrismukka holidays turned out to be quite hectic considering they were suppose to be the resting period before going at it again. Still maybe once I get back into the routine of things, everything will settle down.

I moved back into Bodington today, indeed I’m only really finishing unpacking now. I can’t believe how much stuff I managed to pile up on my floor last night, I had endless amounts of bags and that was before I packed away my computers and other electronics.

Queues on Turalyon!

January 2nd, 2006 | Life

OMG! I’ve never been in a queue before. Never. And now there is a queue on Turalyon of all places. My baby! Turalyon is my server dammit, other people should only be allowed on at my discretion.

I have an estimated wait of 3 minutes. This is not going to do at all. We need some hippies to move to a different server. Why now? The wait is up to 4 minutes. This is outragous. This is lawsuit worthy? I mean did they think queues were a good idea? Because people are just going to moan about them on their blogs while they are stuck in them.

X-Files

January 2nd, 2006 | Life

Well I’m back in WoW. My subscription expires on the 5th so I’m hoping I can cut myself off and get some revision done but I may have to renew it again. I really want a horse! 18 gold away. I also have loads of X-Files to watch. I ordered series 1 and that should arrive tomorrow plus I took my duplicate Chrismukka presents back to Virgin today and ended up with £38 of vouchers so I got series 3 which was down from £30 to £20 which is a kick ass price as they are £30 each on Play.com.

Happy New Year!

Whois correction

December 31st, 2005 | Life

Just gone through the first half of the alphabet worth of domains in my RegisterFly account correcting the whois. Will do the second half later. Sometime today I also have to decide what I am going to do with all my Klingon domains. I should probably let them expire but I love all my domains, I just don’t think I can do it.

WordPress 2.0 is out

December 30th, 2005 | Life

On December 26th WordPress quitely released version 2.0. They don’t seem to have mentioned it on the main site but the download page has it and on the Planet WordPress blog they mention it but they don’t really go into details so I’m uploading it now to have a play around with it on my new site.

It also appears to have the Akismet spam plugin at least shipping with it, if not already installed.

New site idea

December 30th, 2005 | Life

I’m toying with an idea for a new site that’s basically along the line of Lieing News. It’s like an entertainment news blog except all the stories on it are complete BS. It’s so much earier than reporting real news. Actually it’s harder as you can’t just copy it off MSNBC and it needs to be a little funny, but still.

Server offerings

December 30th, 2005 | Life

A while ago I upgraded my VPS to a better package but the problem is, it’s still packed out. My server just can’t handle the traffic. So I’ve been looking around for something better. The best I have found so far is Steadfast Networks.

They offer a 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 Processor, 1 GB memory, 120 GB hard drive, cPanel / WHM dealie for $165 a month with an hour of management time although it’s an extra $75 a month for the ultra management dealie where basically they will do pretty much everything you want other than coding your websites.
