Breakfast at Mac-ey D’s

December 7th, 2006 | Life

And Sarann said “what about, breakfast at Mac-ey D’s?”
I said “I think that, everything comes burger shaped”

So there we were. Sat round in DEC-10 having pulled an all-nighter on coursework. So it seems like a good idea to go to the D for breakfast. After all it was somewhat pre-planned. Last time we were walking home from town myself and Sarann discussed the idea of doing an all-nighter than going to McDonald’s for breakfast.

Si was a breakfast virgin and went for the quite solid choice of Bacon and Egg McMuffin as did Sarann. I went for the McBacon Roll. I feel it’s a classic. It’s weird how many coursework deadlines end there. I mean, me, George and Si went down after we did the first SE20 coursework and me and Sarann went down after doing the AI21 coursework. It’s quickly developing into somewhat of a tradition.

Chatting through the code

December 5th, 2006 | Life

The coursework deadlines are drawing ever closer so most of the evening was spent in DEC-10 working on SE20. I’ve got most of the code done now to the point where I have a to do list I’m working on. You can always tell when you have the bulk of a project done when you find yourself creating your own little to do list of things to finish off before you’ve achieved everything you wanted to achieve.

Around 10:30ish myself, Si and Michelle finally gave in to our bodys’ desire for food and headed off to get takeaway with the plan of hypothetically going back to labs afterwards. By the time we had finished talking which was well, nowish, we decided it was probably best to get some sleep instead :p.

Still, it’s been a really cool night. It’s cool to spend time just chilling out with people especially as people are going to be disappearing off for Christmas in a week or so. Of course now comes the inevitable choice – to go to bed or to watch some X-Files. Hmmmm.

George’s Otley Run

December 3rd, 2006 | Life

Friday was George’s birthday so we were Otley Running it. It was going to be a costume superheros and supervillians themed Otley Run however it got cancelled in the end. Amusingly enough George decided not to spread the word that it was cancelled and so Charlie, Sarann and Claire came in costume anyway,

It was a decently successful run we made it all the way down to the union although we did skip the Arc (no loss there) and The Pack Horse. Still, usually Otley Runs fail well before there whereas the plan was to go to Fruity so we reached our destination. Those of us that didn’t have tickets (most people that weren’t George) headed back to The Library but Phil got turned down because he didn’t have ID so we went for food and dissolved.

Google Answers to close

December 2nd, 2006 | Life

Google has given up with Google Answers – the site has stopped accepting questions and will stop accepting answers by the time the new year arrives. Interestingly enough, Yahoo Answers is growing massively successful. I don’t want to go on another rant here so I’m going to stop and let you reach your own conclusions – see my previous blog posts about Google.

Happy birthday Katie

December 2nd, 2006 | Life

I didn’t really post this today. It’s backdated. But I couldn’t be bothered making a full post about my sister’s 18th birthday party on Saturday so I’m going to turn it into a happy birthday post and set it back a few days ;). So yeah, happy birthday Katie!

Si: A Review

November 29th, 2006 | Life

I got to The Library last night around 10ish to find that Sarann had managed to get Si to come out. I was quite impressed plus it’s always good to have someone to talk to while Michelle and Sarann were busy systematically bullying Claire (that’s a whole different story :p). By the end of the night we had talked Si into getting his car, picking B up, taking her home (she had twisted her ankle and so couldn’t walk) and then taking us to Asda – at 1am.

So yeah, we ended up in Asda at like 2am doing a food shop. I managed to somehow spend over £18 even though I’m catered though I did buy a lot of Ribena which adds a lot to the price and I got plenty of snack food too so we had something to eat on the way home.

Overall I rate Si quite highly. He of course understands all the WoW jokes and he has a car (a nice car too!) plus he has his bedroom really sorted – bed, chair, computer. Therefore I am awarding him a well deserved 4 out of 5 stars. Probably the highest score you can get without sleeping with me.

Not so satirical

Interesting read.

The worrying thing is, it is actually believable.

Porn is soooo bad

November 28th, 2006 | Thoughts

Seriously, porn is so bad. I mean, it’s cool and all for the naked women but from a film maker’s perspective it’s just jokingly bad. The editing is poor: they just fade in and out at various points ruining the continuity of the story. The dialog isn’t well thought out: they seem to be making it up as they go along and there are random pauses where everyone seems to be asking “what should we do now?”.

The scenes go on too long. I did not think it possible to reach a stage when I would think, “right, I’ve heard these girls fake sex noises for long enough” but apparently it is achievable. The acting is awful. In one scene they are supposed to be smashing up a car and yet they are waving round the hammers like dusters. Their fake sex noises leave a lot to be desired as well, when they remember to make them in between looking bored.

Where did the dildo come from? They are in the middle of the field, nobody was holding anything, they were naked so it can’t have been in a pocket or something. It’s inconsistent. The camera angles are poor, you can’t see enough. They use transitions. There is no conclusion to the story.

In conclusion, porn sucks. The adult industry should be ashamed they are turning out such crap. They do, because they know that guys tend to purchase with their dicks. But that doesn’t stop us critically analysing it with our heads. As the gender that funds almost their entire industry we deserve better. Is it really hard to have naked girls and good production values in the same film?

Easter Egg competition

November 27th, 2006 | Life

Speaking of coursework, I’m interested to see what people are going to pull out for the Easter Egg competition for SE20. Oh and for those that don’t know, there is an Easter Egg competition for SE20 :p. George has really pulled off something good for his, there are two little dialogs as well as a fully implemented game of pong hidden inside the login screen. I’m a little unsure how to trump that.
