I used my birthday gift vouchers to buy a new 50mm f/1.4 lens for my camera. It’s excellent for doing very shallow depth of field, although, on reviewing the photographs, I’ve realised I went far too far with the shallow depth – sometimes it was narrower, even than the object I was actually trying to photograph! Looking forward to playing around with this lens a lot more.

The Division E competition took place at Donington Park racing circuit, which wasn’t a very good venue as it was difficult to find (we got sent to the wrong part of the circuit) and very cold inside their buildings slash sheds, but on the plus side we did get to look round the Formula One museum section.

Last week, we went to The New Conservatory for lunch. Apparently, they serve deserts, and even have a special “desert of the day.”

The Swarthmore Centre have clearly tried to remove Paul’s poster from the notice board. But so great is the power of Humanism, and the glue Paul used, that they failed.

After 13 months, the drought is over. What better way to celebrate, with some champagne (pronounced sham-pag-en I believe).

A week later, this photo had gone.

I hope people in the office didn’t think this was all for one lunch.

The rain swelled the River Aire, so I decided to go out with my camera. It’s quite difficult, but strangely satisfying, to manage to take a photo while holding an umbrella up with your knees.

Last weekend, me and Elina went to Red’s True Barbecue for dinner. As you can see from my restaurant review, I wasn’t overly impressed. But, to their credit, they did literally provide a bucket of ribs.
