Tom’s birthday

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 | Events, Friends, Life

On Monday we headed out to celebrate Tom’s birthday. I say we, it was mainly Rosie really with nobody else arriving until over two hours after it had started (at least some of us had already said we couldn’t make it until that time 😉 ). We began at Cuthbert Brodrick but soon enough Sophie got us kicked out for being under age so we ended up at Stick Or Twist before heading to Fab.

I think I’ll have myself a beer

Thursday, August 6th, 2009 | Friends

Tuesday night rolled around again and this time I was properly moved into town and could enjoy being able to walk home, which I did. We kicked things off at Wetherspoon’s collecting the regular A-Soc’ers before heading over to D-Fusion for more drinking and a bit of karaoke too in celebration of Sophie’s recent birthday.

We’ve done it again

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009 | Friends, Humanism

Thursday saw HAG head out with some new volunteers in the form of Sophie and Jon. Turns out, we’ve solved the problem again though.

What we need to work on now is exporting HAG to various other cities around the UK, after all as it stands we have a higher success rate than Narconon ;).

The God Hypothesis

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009 | Humanism, Religion & Politics

On Tuesday we had a debate with the Islamic apologist Adam Deen. The man is a fantastic public speaker and even though I think most of us from A-Soc have heard all the arguments before, they were very eloquently put. Norm did a good job of speaking for outside, as did Sophie chairing a debate for the first time – not an easy one to start on!

AGM

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009 | Humanism

Tuesday saw the Atheist Society AGM. It was very well attended, probably due to the offer of free pizza but then that was the plan so we’re not complaining. Congratulations to everyone who got elected, especially Sophie our new president! I was elected vice president and I would also like to thank Norm for nominating me for honory life membership 🙂 .

Drinks with Sophie

Friday, January 16th, 2009 | Friends, Life

There are a lot of people who I haven’t spoken to in a long time. Many of these I haven’t spoken to intentionally but there are still a good view I simply haven’t had chance to see recently. And so having fired off a few texts, Facebook wall posts and the odd email or two I ended up with a few more appointments for my diary, one of which was meeting up with Sophie tonight.

So, myself, Sarann and Sophie headed to Browns for a much needed drink with us all havinf arrived straight from work. Not that any of us were actually drinking alcohol but you just can’t beat a metaphorical pint. With their crazy pricing structure, I ordered 3 bottles of Pepsi and it cost £5.50. Do the maths, that is 183.3p each. Strange, strange people.

House party at 12B Clarendon Place

Monday, November 10th, 2008 | Events, Friends, Life

Having escaped work at about 1:30 I headed over to Sophie and Jon’s house party which was still in full swing. What I found was an orgy of drinking, sex and hedonism the like of which only atheists can truely practice.

Liz making out with random boys, Michelle making out with random girls, everyone drinking some kind of mixture that looked far too much like sewage water and all of this culminating in a human pyramid which made for some excellent pictures.

Good party guys, well done!

One Life

Sunday, October 12th, 2008 | Events, Humanism, Life

Friday night saw the long awaited return of One Life.

We managed 13 people to the session which was a fairly respectable number and it was rather amusing to be just down the hallway from the Christian Union’s Friday Night Live (now re-named to Ignite I believe). The food that Norm cooked based on Sophie’s excellently prepared menu was excellent and we got some good discussions going. Another event to chalk down as a success I recon.
