It’s silly o’clock (that means it’s very late) and I’m in Eniac. Why? Coursework of course. SY23 is due in at 10am on Monday morning and having no plans to be up at that time due to the fact I am working the close on Sunday it was either come down tonight and hand it in or come down tomorrow night and hand it in. Given I would be cutting myself quite short on time if something went wrong tomorrow night I decided tonight was the best night to do it.

I was able to do most of it from home actually, using SSH I was able to upload the files (by FTPing them to my web host then individually getting each file with wget, a bit messy and slow but the easiest way I reckon) and set all the permissions and such and I was able to view the development server by making a VPN connection to SoC.

The problem that our school still requires hard copies of such things as reports though resulted in me having to drive over at 4 in the morning to hand it in. I need sleep dammit! Which is a good idea, I’m going to go and sleep now. Well, I’ll drive home first, driving while asleep is quite dangerous I’ve heard. I don’t actually know this for a fact but it is one of those things I don’t want to risk you know.

I arrived in the Long Room to collect George to find he hadn’t brought his stuff! Yep, I couldn’t deserted. I was assured it was all Kara’s fault. I turned up anyway though which I still think was a questionable decision as I don’t have any pads so I couldn’t spar properly. As it happens I could do a bit of non-contact stuff but still, it’s far better when there is more than one of you with no pads so you can stand at the back without feeling like a complete loser.

It was alright though, it wasn’t that insense as it has been previously and went fairly fast. I spent a lot of it practising with a very attractive girl named Claire (I would normally use the line “we spent the night with our hands all over each other” but I think I’ll give the sexual innuendo a rest for this paragraph) who saved me from being the only person there without a proper kit.

Afterwards I headed down to The Fav with Matt to grab some food. So all in all, not a bad night. I’m hoping that today’s session was relaxed enough that my muscles will not be killing me tomorrow at work.

Mahmoods lied to me. They told me they opened at 10:30 and yet when I got there the shutters were still down.

But yeah, we were standing at the Red Route junction at 10:45 and I explained I was going to go get a Tango Ice Blast. Sarann bet me a £10 I couldn’t make it there and back by 11. Before I had a chance to respond she grabbed my hand and shook on it though I also look the liberty of confirming “are we actually holding each other to this bet?” to which the response was yes.

With retrospect it was quite a good bet to make on her part at it’s a mission to do the round trip in 15 minutes. But I made it back (indeed I made it past the point I left from and all the way to Sarann sitting outside of LT18) by 10:59. You owe me a tenner hippie! Including time to stop off at Best One and pick up alternative supplies given I couldn’t ger my Ice Blast.

I finally met up with Adam today who is a friend I met a while ago at a launch party in Pulse for one of the issues of Created magazine which is a magazine published by CHIP (Celebrating Him In Print). It was good to catch up as a lot has changed since we last spoke. We also got some good discussion regarding Atheist Soc given he is a Christian (a free thinking one which is always good) and me being infidel number one and all.

On a broader subject, it’s good to catch up with people as it’s so easy to loose touch. I can’t remember if I blogged about it but a month ago I got messaged by a girl who I used to go to primary school with. This also led me to get chatting with a guy I knew throughout primary school and high school. I also got chatting to another friend from high school again recently who moved to New Zealand. It had been literally years since we’ve spoken so it was good to have a quick catch up session. I need to have a brainstorm and think about who else I haven’t spoken to in ages.

I noticed myself and Raby where wearing the same hoodie today.

IMDb have been working on their design recently including moving the search bar up to the top and getting rid of the side columns. They’ve now gone even further changing the look of their tabs and having a big re-do of the pages for movies and people. It no longer looks really, really crap.

They have nice little dividers a whole CSS’ed menu and it just generally looks cleaner.

I’ve had the most amazing night.

What did I do? I slept. Rather than actually getting my coursework done lol. But yeah, I was really tired by like 8 o’clock and I just dozed on my bed for a while. By 10 I had accepted I wasn’t going to be getting any work done so I actually bothered to get undressed and go to bed properly.

I slept through until my alarm woke me up at 6 as I was going to get up and do my coursework this morning. Small hope I know but the most amazing thing happened – I woke up this morning, refreshed. It was early but I felt like I had gotten enough sleep.

This is crazy talk. Do you know when the last time I felt like that was? I don’t. I don’t usually, even when I sleep in at the weekends and it’s afternoon by the time I get up. This morning I felt alive and wake, it was fantastic.

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t do any coursework, I just watched American Beauty instead but it’s a step in the right direction. I didn’t want to just roll over and go back to sleep.

On the subject of American Beauty, it’s a region 1 DVD which I had yet to try out on my multi-region player. Turns out it plays them in black and white. In the case of AB though it only added to the magic of the film.

It’s easy to forget just how much of a stunningly brilliant film American Beauty is. Alan Ball is an amazing writer and I don’t think it ever shines through as well as it does in this film, it really is a masterpiece.

Which one of the following is the biggest afront to God?

Tuesday started off with some stuff that I can’t really remember followed by the Atheist Soc meeting in which I was giving a presentation “debating with theists” which was concerning how to counter the common arguments thrown at you by theists.

It went really well, I was worried I would blow through the slides in almost no time at all but because we got some debate going it worked out perfectly within the time limit. We got a few new people show up too including Hind who is the equality and diversity officer for next year.

Afterwards we hit The Old Bar for a few drinks and headed down to the Red Leopard for Phil’s birthday. He ended up getting a stage show (Kat mugged everyone for £5 on their way in to fund it) where two girls took him on stage and had fun drawing on his face with lipstick and led him round like a dog before whipping him with his own belt. Memories.

I sent a nice angry support ticket to RegisterFly today.

Hi,

It’s been almost a week since I posted my last support ticket regarding antichav.com without a response. What happened to the 2-3 hour response times? Seriously, I would like an explanation.

And for the love of God, can I please have the EPP code for antichav.com. Please also restore the domain – for free. I’ve been waiting for this EPP code for over a month now, I ‘ve opened up support ticket after support ticket – you have fobbed me off constantly, this is your fault!

The service level I have been receiving recently is completely unacceptable. If the situation is not resolved promptly I will be forced to take further action and if necessary, lodge a formal complaint with ICANN.

I’ve been migrating my domains away from them for a while now but I’m being hampered by the fact that I now need an EPP code to transfer my domains away which is an absolute mission to get hold of.

Luckily, eNom have got tired of the problems and terminated RegisterFly’s reseller account (RegisterFly used eNom to deal all of their domains until they became a registrar in their own right last year). So all the domains that I were registed through eNom on my RegisterFly account have now been pushed to an eNom account.

As an eNom reseller, RegisterFly was bound to adhere to certain standards of customer service such as providing customer service in a speedy and diligent manner. Because RegisterFly was unable to provide customer service meeting these standards,
eNom terminated RegisterFly as a reseller of its domain names on February 6, 2007.

Now all I have to do is move the domains which are actually registered through RegisterFly which should only be a dozen or so.
