Fonze’s birthday

Saturday, April 19th, 2014 | Friends

With Fonze getting another year older earlier this month, we planned a three part celebration.

First, I made him to go flag football training. What more could you ask for on your birthday? Actually, he wanted to come, but it all worked out for everyone 😀 . For lunch, we went to his parents. His mum does a good Sunday lunch.

Finally, we finished up going to Chaophraya for dinner. I had wanted to go to Saengarun but unfortunately it had closed down. The advantage of Chaophraya though is that you can order the birthday cake where they come with the drums and all the staff sing happy birthday. Despite his accusatory and threatening tone, I think that was his favourite part of the day.

Warhammer

warhammer

Due to the increasing number of people that tell me I need to relax more, which while was initially just friends, now includes doctors and therapists, I have decided to start playing Warhammer once again.

Having played a lot of 40K when I was a child, I’ve decided to go with some Fantasy this time and have begun once again building an army to wage war – photos on their way. In the mean time, if your a fellow player, or intrigued to give it a try, now is the time! Norm has already started building a band of Chaos Warriors and by the tim this is published, I’m fairly sure Fonze will be building something too…

Wendy House July 2012

I took my recently acquired flash to Wendy House to see if I could get better photos. What I got was a mysterious floating head of Fonze. Which was pretty cool.

Fonze’s Birthday Bash

Monday, April 16th, 2012 | Friends

We recently headed to the bowling alley to celebrate Fonze’s birthday.

It was a rather confusing start because the alley used to be owned by AMF Bowling, but it is now owned by 1st Bowl. However, AMF have now bought Hollywood Bowl, so if you search for AMF Leeds you get what was the Hollywood Bowl out at Cardigan Fields rather than the one you are looking for. Never the less, we sorted it in the end.

They have a pretty cool offer called Big Work Party, which is where you can take your office (as long as your office is at least six people) and bowl for £2.25 a game! Being a Yorkshireman, I decided to take all the saving I could get and booked three games. I then bowled the worst games I’ve ever played, but a steak as ‘Spoons afterwards made it all better.

Fry up

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011 | Friends, Life

As usual, Viki was pretending to be ill at Wendy, which meant she was feeling fully refreshed on Sunday morning having gone home early. You would think that would mean she could go and get breakfast, but apparently not. Luckily Fonze stepped up to the plate and delivered the goods, with Norm adding his cheffing expertise to prepare it all.

Elbow Room

Saturday, May 21st, 2011 | Friends, Life

Last week we headed over to Elbow Room to shoot some pool.

It’s a great place to play as they have plenty of room (as Norm pointed out – the name is probably derived from the fact you have enough elbow room to play) though they are American pool tables which means the pockets are massive and so the chance of you potting the white quickly becomes more of a when than an if, even if you put some thought into it.

In the end myself, Norm and George all came out three wins to two defeats, most of which were won or lost on the white following the black into the pocket lol. Fonze played well also, beating George in the last game, though he did have the advantage that he wasn’t drinking.

Fonze’s birthday bash

Monday, April 18th, 2011 | Friends, Life

Fonze having missed most of his birthday meal, we headed down to The Elbow Room to shoot some pool.

What looked like a slightly disappointingly stocked bar when we first approached, turned out to actually offer a great selection and we were soon enjoying some Ketel One vodka. I’m not a fan of the American style pool tables as their ridiculous size pockets mean that it’s very demasculating every time you don’t pot anything and the white goes in on almost every shot.

However we struggled on none the less and having taken the first game I suggested Fonze and Elina have a game, after all we had the table for another forty minutes so that was plenty of time for them to play and still get plenty of other games in.

Turns out I was quite wrong about that ;). A fun night none the less though.

Piccolino

Sunday, April 17th, 2011 | Food, Friends, Reviews

With the anniversary of Arthur Fonzarelli having arrived once again, I organised a birthday meal at Piccolino. As it happened Fonze turned up late to his own birthday shin dig so we ended up eating the main course without him, but never the less we didn’t let his tardiness spoil our fun.

The restaurant was a reasonably up market place and this was evident from the pitiful amount of change I received back from my £10 note having ordered myself and Elina a drink.

The staff were friendly though it was sometimes a little hard to get their attention. Some of them didn’t seem to speak very good English which I always find a good sign in restaurants as it can often be because they’re actually from the country that the restaurant’s food style is based on, though of course equally it could be a placebo effect.

The food was nice, the portions were small but I didn’t come away from the meal still feeling hungry so no concerns there. I had the crispy duck for main which wasn’t actually that crispy but the sauce was excellent and duck is a fantastic meat in general. Piccolino’s real strength seems to be in it’s desserts however.

I enjoyed the meal, but given the above average bill which didn’t translate into above average food, I think I would pick one of the multitude of great restaurants in the city centre rather than heading back there any time soon.

Mega breakfast

Having a post-Wendy fry up for a second month in a row, definitely makes it a long standing tradition. Even Fonze stuck around for greasy goodness.

Fonze casting

Friday, January 23rd, 2009 | Friends

Moz having bailed on us last night (to which I though there was then a real lack of Moz jokes made in the show) we settled in for another evening of podcast. This time with a number of celebrity guests including the long awaited return of Fonze. It’s a shame he isn’t on the show as much anymore as there are so many great jokes to be made 😉 .

The discussion topics of the night were “The AHS” and “Be nice to Muslims Day” though by the time we had got through the regular segments at the start of the show, most of the show was gone lol.
