Mosaic

Monday, May 11th, 2009 | Friends

Sunday saw us head to Mosaic for Michelle’s baptism.

If there was one thing that was apparent while I was there is that, that church has plenty of cash. Not that I wasn’t drooling over the electronics last time I was there but they have really done it up since then and added some cool stuff – though Joel tells me they have actually had to downgrade their speakers.

In any case, this tithing thing seems to be the way forward 😀 .

Post close BBQ

Monday, May 11th, 2009 | Friends, Life

Me and Eric had been saying for a few months now that when the weather got warmer we would do a BBQ after the close one night. The weather having got better recently I decided that Saturday was the day we should finally go for it and despite initial rain when we started out shift it was (relatively) warm and dry by the time we got out. So we settled down for a BBQ and a beer in the car park – epic win 😀 .

The photos didn’t come out too clear as I’m still playing around with my various camera settings but it portrays the idea.

I’m quite proud I managed to cook everything without killing anyone and Becky brought along drinks and donuts too so it was quite a night.

Capturing them for life

Sunday, May 10th, 2009 | Friends, Humanism

Congratulations to Paul, who along with others including myself, who was one of the first set of people to be awared honorary life membership to Leeds Atheist Society. It just shows you if you that if you really put time and effort in you can come out with a nicely designed certificate ;). And much more besides of course!

Sleepy Sundays

Monday, May 4th, 2009 | Friends, Life

Having got to bed for the first time in a few days in the early hours of Sunday morning I found myself waking up and checking my phone to see it was 7:30pm! So I got up, headed out to the pub for a few drinks, grabbed some food and then came home and went back to bed. If only every day could be like that 😀 .

Post-AGM party

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009 | Friends, Humanism, Life

After the AGM on Tuesday we headed down to The Victoria for a few drinks before going over to D-Fusion for a bit of karaoke. The usual suspects opened the set and Jonni also did a few numbers plus twenty minutes after I commented to Jonni “I’m just waiting for Rich to get drunk before he opens his set with It’s a Sin” it kicked off with a rendition of a certain Pet Shop Boys number which I’m sure you can guess 😉 .

Solving problems

Sunday, April 26th, 2009 | Friends, Humanism, Life

The Thursday before Rationalist Week myself and Rich headed out for our usual Humanist Action Group antics.

Turns out, we’ve solved the problem in like a month 😀 . There was hardly anyone out that night which we decided must be down to our excellent work even though we don’t really help to get people off the streets in any way. Go HAG!

Pub based planning

Sunday, April 26th, 2009 | Friends, Humanism

With the final Tuesday of the Easter holidays seeing the union closed, we headed off to The Library for the final RW planning meeting. In the end we got a rather good turnout, something like a dozen people or more eventually showed their face including the long awaited introduction of Zoltan’s girlfriend. She looks quite mature for a 15 year old.

Return to the Colonel’s house of chicken

Monday, April 6th, 2009 | Friends, Life

Saturday having been a cheap night I decided my budget could squeeze a bit of an evening on Sunday, especially given my parents had been kind enough to throw me some going out money as an Easter present and so headed down to meat everyone at KFC – we’re all skint at the moment so not doing real restaurants. We also grabbed a quick drink at The Mill while we were down there so all in all an enjoyable and rather budget evening score.

Gascoigne

Monday, April 6th, 2009 | Friends, Life

Having done my open on Saturday I found that I had the evening off for once which made of a strange feeling. Nobody in the house really doing anything I headed out to meet Craig and Zoe for a few drinks at the Gascoigne in Garforth which is a pub I haven’t actually been in before.

It seemed a nice enough place, big with plenty of space and the drinks were reasonably priced at least for a pub in Garforth (which means they aren’t actually that reasonable of course 😉 ). It just being the three of us we weren’t out for too long but I did appreciate the novelty of being somewhere other than work on a Saturday night.

Return to Nando’s

Sunday, March 29th, 2009 | Friends, Life

People being very unoriginal and lazy (not to mention late) we were forced to repeat a restaurant tonight. Still at least we did it in style with Nando’s as you can never have too much chicken. Rich went for hot this time and after pointing out my lack of nerves for only going for medium proceeded to struggle to eat his food because it was too hot 😀 .

Afterwards we headed for some ice cream and I finally met our new store manager Matt who seems like a decent enough guy even if we barely exchanged any words. Still I’m sure I’ll find out in full next Saturday.
