In space, nobody can hear you scream

Ain’t no sound in space. You know why? Because sound can’t travel through a vacuum!

So why is it I can hear Voyager travel past the camera in the opening credits!

Is it really that much of a mission to be scientifically accurate? Firefly managed it. I mean sure, that was a show so universally hated that the network went to the extreme of actually cancelling it mid-production but still.

Very good point. Problem is, then you look at all the other inaccuracies the fact the ship makes a sound pales into insignificance.

LOL, you are not the first to point this out. I was asking my mum the same question when I was about 7! As Kieran says, the science of Star Trek is not that great, or accurate. Plus it would be a rubbish opening sequence without sound.

Secondly, space is not a total vacuum, some of it is actually quite full of stuff, like tens of parts per million, even hundreds in some cases. I like the opening sequence of Voyager, even with its scientific innaccuracy. ar better than the original DS9 one, lol.
